Devotional: Day 2126

Greetings,

What should we do as believers when laws are passed that oppose scripture? I’m referring to laws such as those for abortion or other things the Word of God is against. This is a dilemma. What position should we take when it is an election year and a candidate adopts a platform that is contradictory to the Law of God? These are challenging issues but we must stand against in love, while we stand in truth!

Psalm 94:20-23 (NKJV) – “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You? [21] They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood. [22] But the LORD has been my defense, And my God the rock of my refuge. [23] He has brought on them their own iniquity, And shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The LORD our God shall cut them off.”

The ‘throne’ in Verse 20 refers to the legal system. As believers, we should love everyone, even those who do wrong. But regarding the legal system, remember that just because laws are passed that condone evil, it does not mean those laws are approved by God. As His children, we must also obey the laws of His Kingdom. In verse 23, God promises to judge those who violate His Law. He alone is qualified to do so and His judgment can be very severe!

As believers, how should we respond to ungodly rulers? There are times that we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. So, we must remember to: (1) stand on the values of God’s Word; (2) pray; and (3) encourage more believers to become engaged politically. If more godly leaders will rise up and stand together, we can change our nation!

Father, I pray that You will guide us. Take control of our political and legal systems that righteousness may prevail in our nation. Help believers to stand for righteousness in love. Cause us to embrace the principles of Your Kingdom that our nation can be blessed. In Jesus Name

Today, I’m worshiping with Richard Smallwood and “Healing.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
