Devotional: Day 2149

Greetings,

Do you know a believer who was close to the Lord, but then who turned and walked away from Him? We all do. What do you suppose was responsible for destroying their relationship with God? Notice what Paul wrote in his epistle to Timothy:

1 Timothy 1:19 (NKJV) – “having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck.”

It is so important for us to maintain our faith and our conscience. Both are based upon decisions that are made in the heart. Faith is simply choosing to place your trust in God. To keep a good conscience, we must choose to listen and obey when the voice of the Holy Spirit tells us not to go any further. Strong faith and a good conscience will keep us from wrecking our lives.

The enemy wants you to listen to “reason” instead of faith and live by the world’s standards rather than aspiring to live by the teachings of God’s Word. Don’t listen to the voice of the enemy when he says that what you’re about to do is okay; everyone else is doing it. That’s a sure way to suffer shipwreck!

Father, help me never to compromise my faith or my conscience. I want to listen to Your voice as it guides me. But if that should happen, help me to rebuild those two vital areas of my life so that I may live with integrity and character.

Today, I’m worshiping with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and “So You Would Know.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
