Devotional: Day 2259

Greetings,

Preaching was never meant to be entertainment. The nation of Israel was carried away into captivity for thinking the Word of God was to amuse them, rather than receiving it as the Law of God meant to change their lives.

Ezekiel 33:32 (NKJV) – “Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them.”

We should value the teaching of God’s Word so much more than a favorite movie, show or the daily news. After all, the purpose of scripture is to feed our inner man. It is the spiritual nourishment we need to grow our relationship with God.

If we could see the human spirit as our Heavenly Father does, I wonder what we would see. Would our souls be shriveled and malnourished, while our outward appearance is vibrant and strong?

Thank You, Lord, for allowing us to listen to the preaching of Your Living Word, week after week. So many people in our world do not have that privilege. Brothers and sisters in Christ are often persecuted for their faith. Help me not take the privileges that You have given me for granted.

Today, I’m worshiping with Valley Creek Worship and “There Is Always More.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
