Devotional: Day 2271

Greetings,

Have you ever had doubts about whether Jesus really cares for you? Trying circumstances can sometimes cause us to wonder. If so, you’re not the first to question His love during an extremely difficult situation.

Mark 1:40-41 (NKJV) – “Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” [41] Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Jesus was moved with compassion for three reasons. The first and most obvious—was the man’s pitiful condition and what he had already suffered. As a leper, he could not even associate with his own family. If anyone came within twelve feet of him, he had to cry, “Unclean!”

The second reason was less obvious. It was in regard to the man’s long emotional struggle concerning his relationship with God. When he saw Christ, who was God manifest in the flesh, the leper had heard rumors about His healing power—but would Christ care enough to heal him?

The third reason had to do with his self-worth. Did he deserve to be healed? The leper questioned whether the Lord would be willing to heal him. Have you asked yourself why? No doubt, knowing his own human imperfections, he must have wondered if he even deserved the Lord’s mercy.

But notice what happened to him. His doubts were soon transformed into belief when Jesus said, “I am willing; be cleansed!”

That’s God’s heart for you too. He loves you and He is willing to help, no matter your need. You can’t be good enough to earn it either. God’s acts of kindness are based upon who He is, not on whether we merit His love.

Father, I thank You for that You care so much for us. You were willing to give heaven’s best that we could be saved and remain with You for all eternity. Because that is true, I know that anything else I ask You to do, You love me enough to do it, if that is what’s best for me. I love You!

Today, I’m worshiping with Jeremy Riddle and “At Your Name.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
