Devotional: Day 2274

Greetings,

Fear is the exact opposite of faith and it works in the same way as faith. Whereas faith manifests itself in joy, fear produces anxiety. Notice what Jesus told His disciples in the midst of a raging storm, when they felt sure that they were about to perish:

Mark 4:40 (NKJV) – “But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

The answer to Jesus’ question was obvious. The disciples were fearful because of what they saw. The roaring waves and shrieking winds rattled them. You can almost hear them saying to each other, “Guys, we’ve got to bail! This boat is about to capsize and we’re going to sink. There’s no way we can make it!”

When you’re filled with fear, it squeezes faith right out of you. The wrong emotions hinder faith. Fear can produce the very thing that you are trying to avoid.

That’s why you must guard your thinking. I became so weary with the daily barrage of negativism that I stopped watching TV some years ago. Each day the news was filled with angry rhetoric and discouraging reports. I finally asked myself why I was subjecting myself to all of that. Instead, I’ve since chosen to keep up with important events in our world on a simple news app. It has helped me minimize those things that keep me agitated in my spirit.

Lord, today I choose to trust You with my life and my future. You alone are my strong tower of protection that can shield and protect, me and my family during the inevitable storms of life! You hold me and my family in Your strong and capable hands. Thank You for caring for me.

Today, I’m worshiping with Joseph Larson and “Why Should I Worry.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
