Devotional: Day 2370

Greetings,

Every part of the Word of God is written to each of us. But have you ever noticed how God can make certain passages of scripture seem to “come alive?” It is as though He is speaking directly to our hearts and giving us the very thing we need to hear at that particular moment. That’s because He knows all there is to know about us and understands exactly what our needs are before the arise. I love that about God!

Psalm 139:1 (NKJV): “O LORD, You have searched me and known me,”

Psalm 139:16 (NKJV): “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.”

God knows your name and everything that’s happening in your life. When you prayerfully read His Word, God will illuminate certain passages and give you the very message you need to hear at that moment.

That’s what happened to the two disciples who were walking with Jesus on the road to Emmaus when they needed a Word from God in order to make sense of all that was happening around them.

Luke 24:32 (NKJV) – “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Dear God, open Your Word to us today. Speak to our hearts as You did to Your disciples on that dusty road long ago. Give us this day “our daily bread.” Make our hearts burn within us! Give us the direction we need.

Today, I’m worshiping with Riddle and Gretzinger and “You Have Won Me.”
