Greetings,
Have you ever doubted whether Jesus really cares about you? If so, you’re not the first to wonder during an extremely difficult situation.
Mark 1:40-41 (NKJV) – “Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” [41] Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
Jesus was moved with compassion for two reasons. The first—and most obvious—was the man’s pitiful condition and what he had already suffered. As a leper, he could not even associate with his own family. If anyone came within twelve feet of him, he had to cry, “Unclean!”
The second reason was less obvious. It was that long emotional struggle about his relationship with God. When he saw Christ, who was God manifest in the flesh, he had heard rumors about His healing power—but was he worthy to be healed? That’s why he questioned, “IF You are willing…” Can you imagine doubting whether Christ was interested in healing a leper?
Father, I thank You for Your great love for us. You were willing to give heaven’s best so that we could be saved and remain with You for all eternity. I love You!
Today, I’m worshiping with Jeremy Riddle and “At Your Name.”
