Devotional: Day 292

Greetings,

Happy New Year! Did you ever wonder why the Jewish Year is celebrated on a different day and even time of the year from ours? When Israel came out of Egypt, God told them to start the calendar over the very night they were delivered. Read:

Exodus 12:1-2 (NKJV) Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Have you ever wished for a fresh start? A new beginning? Perhaps you have stumbled so badly that it’s impossible to put the past out of your mind.

That’s the beauty of being born again. When you become a child of God and are saved, you experience a new birth. The old sinful nature is dead and buried with Christ in baptism and you rise to walk in newness of life. All of the past is gone. The calendar begins anew.

Or perhaps you are simply glad to see 2020 come to an end. A New Year means a new beginning of hope and God’s faithfulness.

Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of the Passover Lamb, the Son of God who died in my place that I could be free. Today, I praise you for new beginnings. I thank You that some things are NOT coming into 2021 with me. I especially thank You for forgiveness from all my sins.

This special day I’m worshiping to “Waymaker” by Red Rocks Worship
