Devotional: Day 48

Greetings,

What happens when God doesn’t do things the way you expected? How do you respond when you pray for a miracle, a healing, or a promotion—and it doesn’t come? Think about this scripture:

Hebrews 11:39 (NKJV) – “And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise.”

When that happens, some people believe God has failed them. But what about these heroes of faith in Hebrews, chapter 11?

Hebrews 11:13 (NKJV) – “THESE ALL DIED IN FAITH, NOT HAVING RECEIVED THE PROMISES, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”

They never doubted God’s faithfulness. Rather, they continued to believe in Him and His goodness. This also agrees with Job’s commitment:

Job 13:15 (NKJV) – “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

Here’s a question that will gauge your spiritual growth and development: can you continue to trust God and know He is good when you DO NOT see the answer you were expecting?

Today, I’m worshiping with Kim Walker and “I Still Believe.”
