Devotional: Day 56

Greetings,

In Psalm 143:6 (NKJV), David said: “I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah.”

Have you ever been thirsty? I mean really thirsty? Once in Kenya, after traveling for hours across an extremely dry desert terrain, it was difficult to find safe drinking water. Unfortunately, we had failed to bring enough water.

I cannot remember ever being so thirsty. We couldn’t wait to find water to quench our thirst. Finally, we arrived at the place we would stay that night. When they brought us something to drink, I don’t believe I’ve ever tasted anything so refreshing and satisfying!

David’s soul thirsted for the Living God. To develop that kind of thirst requires a continual longing in our soul for more of Him. During this lockdown and days of isolation, our attention has again been turned toward God. Let’s keep it there.

Father, help us refrain from becoming “full” of things that cannot satisfy and to stay thirsty for You, the source of Living Waters.

Today, I’m worshiping with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and “Psalm 34.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfW2mkkMTAg

Now that we are permitted to move around, let’s not forget to wash our hands often with soap, no touching the face, and practice social-distancing.

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
