Devotional: Day 641

Greetings,

Have you ever doubted whether Jesus really cares about you? If so, you’re not the first to question His love during an extremely difficult situation.

Mark 1:40-41 (NKJV) – “Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” [41] Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Jesus was moved with compassion for two reasons. The first—and most obvious—was the man’s pitiful condition and what he had already suffered. As a leper, he could not even associate with his own family. If anyone came within twelve feet of him, he had to cry, “Unclean!”

The second reason was less obvious. It was about the man’s long emotional struggle concerning his relationship with God. When he saw Christ, who was God manifest in the flesh, the leper had heard rumors about His healing power—but was he worthy to be healed? This is why he questioned, “IF You are willing…” I’m sure he must have doubted if Christ was interested in healing a leper. But those doubts were soon transformed into belief when Jesus said, “I am willing; be cleansed!”

Father, I thank You for Your great love for us. You were willing to give heaven’s best so that we could be saved and remain with You for all eternity. I love You!

Today, I’m worshiping with Jeremy Riddle and “At Your Name.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
