Devotional: Day 796

Greetings,

We know that Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt, but it was Joshua who led them into their Promised Land. Did you ever wonder why Joshua became the successor to Moses?

Exodus 33:11 (NKJV) – “So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the Tabernacle.

Joshua hungered for more of God. He wanted to know God and speak with Him face to face, as Moses did. Because of his great passion for God, he was promoted.

We often think that promotion is the result of cultivating some gift or ability that came to us from God. But that’s only part of it. In addition to preparing us both physically and intellectually, God wants us to be spiritually prepared for whatever lies ahead. When it was time for someone to take Moses’ place, God chose the young man who wanted to linger in His Presence.

Thank You for choosing me and allowing me to come into Your Presence. In Your Presence there is fulness of joy. I am so privileged to be able to be with You. I want to abide in Your Presence continually.

The lesson we can learn from Joshua is to spend time with “Him,” before we spend time with “them.”

Today, I’m worshiping with Gateway and “Linger.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
