Devotional: Day 892

Greetings,

What should believers do when laws are passed that oppose scripture, such as those for abortion or same-sex marriage? This is a dilemma. It really becomes a problem when it is an election year when a candidate adopts a platform that is contradictory to the Law of God. We must stand in love, but stand in truth!

Psalm 94:20-23 (NKJV) – “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You? [21] They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood. [22] But the LORD has been my defense, And my God the rock of my refuge. [23] He has brought on them their own iniquity, And shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The LORD our God shall cut them off.”

The ‘throne’ in Verse 20 refers to the legal system. As believers, we are told to love everyone; but just because a person upholds the laws of man does not mean they are approved by God. We must also obey the laws of God. In verse 23, God promises to judge them—which He alone is qualified to do. And His judgment can be very severe!

As believers, how should we respond to ungodly rulers? At times, we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. So, we must remember to: (1) stand on the values of God’s Word; (2) pray; and (3) encourage believers to become more politically engaged. If more godly leaders will rise up and stand together, we can change our nation!

Father, I pray that You would guide us. Take control of our political and legal systems that righteousness may prevail in our nation.

Today, I’m worshiping with Richard Smallwood and “Healing.”

We love you and are praying for you. Be INSPIRED!
