Devotional: Day 984

Greetings,

Today is special. This holiday is about far more than turkey and dressing. It is to express our “thanks” to God for all the good things He has done in our lives. That includes things that we often take for granted.

On this important day, I’m thankful that God has blessed me so much! I am grateful for life and for family, for health and for strength, for a great church and friends. God has smiled upon me in more ways than I can count.

Paul writes in Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; AND BE THANKFUL.”

The great Apostle admonishes us to experience God’s peace in our hearts. He tells us that as believers, we are a part of Christ’s body, and that we are called to live with this comforting and pervading peace. But then he also tells us something more. Paul says be thankful.

Here’s a thought: could the elusive peace that so many people seek be dependent upon whether or not they are thankful for all that God has done for them? Is not having a sense of gratitude why peace is so difficult for some people to find?

We all really do have much to be grateful for, don’t we? That’s true even during the difficult and challenging things we face in life. For one, God is for us. He is also with us and will never forsake us. That alone should overwhelm our hearts with joy!

Dear Heavenly Father, THANK YOU! Thank you for all you have done for me. Let my heart constantly be aware of the many blessings that You have generously given me. You are good beyond words. Nothing that I go through changes who You are. You are steadfast and strong, and are always there for me, even when I feel weak. I love you with all of my heart.

Today I’m worshiping to Thank You by Hillsong:

May you have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
