Devotional: Day 2398

Greetings,

What happens when God doesn’t do things the way you expected? How do you respond when you pray for a miracle, a healing, or a promotion—and it doesn’t come? Think about this scripture:

Hebrews 11:39 (NKJV) – “And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise.”

If they don’t receive the promises they’ve been waiting for when they expect them, some people believe that God has failed them. He hasn’t! What about the heroes of faith in Hebrews, chapter 11?

Hebrews 11:13 (NKJV) – “THESE ALL DIED IN FAITH, NOT HAVING RECEIVED THE PROMISES, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”

They are called heroes of faith because they never doubted God’s faithfulness, even when things didn’t go the way they had hoped. Rather, they continued to trust God, and believe in Him and His goodness. This also agrees with Job’s commitment:

Job 13:15 (NKJV) – “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

Here’s a question that will help you measure your spiritual growth and development: can you continue to trust God and know that He is good even when you DO NOT see the answers you were expecting?

Lord Jesus, help me to believe and trust You more. You are absolutely trustworthy for not even once have You ever failed Your people or let us down. Thank You for that kind of faithfulness to us. You are amazing!

Today, I’m worshiping with Kim Walker and “I Still Believe.”
