Devotional: Day 2405

Greetings,

We read in Joshua 3:2-3 (NKJV) – “So it was, after three days, that the officers went through the camp; [3] and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and GO AFTER IT.”

In this life, we pursue many things: dreams, careers, health, promotions, finances, pleasure, and even the woman or man we believe God has chosen for us. Once we set our sights on these things, we refuse to let them go. That’s a good thing, because to find you are required to first seek!

Those are natural things, but what about pursuing God too? He wants us to pursue Him. We speak of His love being so relentless, that He chases after us, but a wise person will also pursue after God. Israel was instructed to “go after it”when they saw the Ark of God, the earthly symbol of His Manifest Presence.

Father, teach us to be “God-chasers.” We want to pursue You with thirsty hearts until our souls have been quenched with Your living waters. Then let us become more thirsty still. We never want to stop chasing after You, because “Your lovingkindness is better than life!” Psalm 63:3 (NKJV).

Today, I’m worshiping with Big Daddy Weave and “I’m Overwhelmed.”
